Complications of Spinal Anesthesia

Abstract


ABSTRACT:

Spinal anesthesia is a very useful procedure for providing anesthesia, analgesia , motor and sensory loss by infiltrating a local anesthetic in subarachnoid space.This procedure is useful for not only lower limb surgeries but also for above umbilicus surgeries as well. However various complications and adverse effects have routinely been identified. The most common side effect of spinal anesthesia is Post dural puncture headache. Other complications include backache, Local infections and bleeding leading to hematomas and in severe cases cardiac arrest.Each of this complication can be managed effectively.
