A Clinical study to evaluate the effect of Siddha internal medicine and External therapy in the management of Kumbavatham (Periarthritis).

Abstract


ABSTRACT:

     Siddha system of medicine is vast ocean of internal and external medicines. The origin of siddha medical science is attributed to the origin of Tamil language. The great sage Yugi mentioned in his text Yugi vaithyachinthamani classified vatha diseases into 80 types and kumbavatham is one among them that can be correlated with symptoms of Periarthritis of shoulder joint. The patients with kumbavatham reporting at OPD of Ayothidoss pandithar hospital, National institute of Siddha were taken as sample for this study.  The study was conducted during the period of January 2018 to august 2019. More than 50 patients reporting with symptoms of Periarthritis were screened during the study period. who were diagnosed as periarthritis, were include in this study. The total sample size was 10. Arumuga Chenduram Internally and Laguvidamutti Thylam externally along with Varmam therapy were given. Total treatment period was 48 days. Clinical assessment was recorded before and after treatment by using assessment Scales.
